Transport strike to disrupt cargo at Mundra this week

Cargo movement at two major Indian ports is set to be suspended indefinitely as regional transport associations launch a strike over poor road infrastructure, reports Saint Petersburg's PortNews.

The Joint Forum of Truck Owners & Operators for the Kutch Region said all affiliated transport associations serving Kandla and Mundra Ports will begin a strike from 10 September. GAC's Hot Port News advisory, dated 3 September, stated the action will commence at midnight on 9 September and continue "until further notice."

The advisory confirmed that import and export cargo movement through Kandla Port, Mundra Port, container freight stations, empty parks and nearby industrial units will be halted. The strike aims to address long-standing concerns over inadequate road infrastructure and poor maintenance.

No resolution timeline has been provided, and the duration of the suspension remains unclear. The disruption is expected to impact port operations and logistics chains across the region.
