Asia-Europe flat at US$1,379/TEU as transpac rate up 13.6pc to $1,992/FEU
ASIA-EUROPE freight rates have begun to settle following the steep increases earlier this month, but rates to the United States are now making a move.

According to the latest data from the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI) spot rates from Asia to the US west coast rose 13.6 per cent last week to US$1,992 per FEU, while rates to the US east coast increased by 7.6 per cent to $3,136 per FEU.

Asia-Europe rates held steady during the week, dipping just 0.6 per cent to $1,379 per TEU. On the Asia-Mediterranean trade rates declined by 0.9 per cent to $1,385 per TEU.

Across all trades covered by the index the SCFI rose 4.5 per cent to 1,223.25 points.
